About Us

The Pink Tongue is Cape Town's first and only monthly community newspaper for the colourful and diverse gay community. Published by Independent Newspapers, 15 000 copies are distributed on the last Wednesday of every month through various gay and gay-friendly establishments, organizations and venues in Cape Town and nearby towns like Stellenbosch, Knysna, Napier, Darling, Gordon's Bay, Sedgefield, Tulbagh, Barrydale and Montagu.

The Pink Tongue challenges homophobia by embracing homosexuality and by promoting gay lives and lifestyles in the normal, decent and honest way in which they are lived. As a community newspaper, it reflects and reports on the doings, happenings, achievements and celebrations within the gay community as well as situations that directly affect us.

The Pink Tongue was launched in August 2007 and is distributed to the gay community free of charge. All writers and contributors are gay and the articles cover news and news stories, health matters, profiles and interviews, travel, reviews, an events guide, sport and regular columnists.
